Calmel Joseph, Le Roc – 2017, Corbières

Calmel Joseph, Le Roc – 2017, Corbières

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity with slight garnet reflections. On the nose, the aromas have a medium (+) level, the bouquet is on ripe red fruits (red cherry, morello cherry, red plum, strawberry), completed by fresh hints of menthol, liquorice, and thyme. There are also lightly toasted, vanilla, and chocolate aromas. On the palate, the flavors have a nice freshness and express notes of juicy red fruits (red cherry, currant, raspberry) with a hint of spice (black pepper, liquorice), with a slight smoky note. The body and the tannins have a medium level, and the tannic structure is refined. The acidity is quite high. The finish is long, and delicate, on the freshness of red fruits, notes of rosemary, and a hint of smoke. A wine with a beautiful substance, balanced by acidity and tension.
