Van Zellers – 30 Years Old – Tawny Port 

The nose is powerful, quite aromatic and offers a fine concentration as well as a very fine freshness (in the background). It reveals notes of candied orange, candied strawberry and small notes of candied blackberry, date associated with touches of Cuben pepper, violet, pâtisseries, nutmeg, caramelization as well as a very discreet hint of orange flower, cigar and spices/clove (in the background). The wine takes time to reveal. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced, fine , beautifully elegant, melodious, complex and offers a good definition, tension, gourmandize, precision, a fine unctuosity, a fine acidulous frame. On the palate this Porto expresses notes of cristallized mandarin, candied raspberry and small notes of fleshy strawberry associated with small touches of fleshy cherry, caramelization, toasted, cedarwood as well as discreet hints of orange flowers, date, vanilla and a very discreet hint of chocolate (in the background). A very beautiful Porto! There are very discreet hints of hazelnut, fresh walnut, caramelized almond as well as an imperceptible hint of flowers, honey on the finish/persistence. Beautiful persistence.
