Vylyan Pillangó Merlot Selection 2019 – Villányi

Vylyan Pillangó Merlot Selection 2019 – Villányi

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with slight garnet reflections. The nose requires aeration, and then offers concentration, accuracy and complexity. It expresses the gourmand and sweet notes of black plum, prune cream, prunes in chocolate, morello cherry, dried strawberry, crushed raspberry, combined with refreshing herbaceous aromas (peppermint, menthol), a touch of dark chocolate, torrefaction (toasted hazelnut with a touch of caramelized hazelnut, toasted bread), as well as a hint of liquorice, cumin, peony and lily. The palate is suave, but vertical and fresh at the same time, with firm, slightly grippy and bitter tannins. The attack expresses the tanginess of the fruits – we find notes of red cherry and raspberry, which are then completed by notes of ripe morello cherry, black plum, red plum and strawberry. We also find spicy touches of liquorice and cumin, a gourmet hint of chocolate (red cherry in chocolate, bitter cocoa), a touch of torrefaction (coffee, toasted hazelnut), flowers (peony) and a good bitterness on the finish. The acidity is fresh and salivating. Good persistence, with a velvety textured and notes of cocoa, which returns on the finish. A silky, deep and structured wine.
