Vasques de Carvalho – 30 Years Old Tawny Port

The nose is powerful, finely tight and offers richness, intensity as well as power. It reveals notes of dry citrus, gray pepper and small notes of cedarwood/sandalwood associated with touches of quince, candied white fruits as well as hints of candied quince, chocolate, toasted, coffee and very discreet hints of nutmeg. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, precise and offers a good guideline, tension, fat, richness, a fine fresh frame, a good straightness as well as a fine unctuosity. On the palate this Porto expresses notes of candied strawberry, candied cherry and small notes of candied plum associated with touches of chocolate, cedarwood as well as discreet hints of white flowers, almond/nut, cardamom and an imperceptible hint of violet. Good length. The persistence is finely acidulous and offers hints of cocoa and toasted.
