Tolaini, Vigna Montebello Sette 2019 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is subtly fragrant, gourmand, spicy and chocolatey. It expresses the aromas of ripe morello cherry, wild strawberry, candied red cherry, blackcurrant jam, raspberry coulis, combined with notes of dark chocolate with mint, liquorice, grilled vanilla, cloves, toasted hazelnut (in the background), as well as bay leaf, fresh tobacco, dried basil, oregano, a hint of bitter cocoa and coffee, as well as a floral touch (peony, iris). On the palate, the attack is tasty and spicy. It expresses notes of licorice, nutmeg, ground cloves, combined with a smoky touch of oregano, a hint of basil, fresh tobacco, fresh flowers (iris, peony, rose in the background) and tapenade. We also find tangy fruits: cranberries, bigarreau cherry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry, blackcurrant, mountain ash and a fine bitterness of coffee and toasted bitter almond which appear on the finish. The tannins are grippy and tight, balanced by a salivating acidity. Good length with notes of tangy red fruits.
