The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose is fragrant, fleshy, dense and complex. The first nose is very fruity and expresses notes of black plum, red plum, plum cream, juicy morello cherry, red cherry jam, crushed wild strawberry and crushed raspberry, associated with a touch of prunes and cherry in kirsch cherry. On the second nose, we find notes of liquorice, nutmeg, white pepper, a touch of vanilla in the background, as well as tertiary notes of undergrowth and tobacco leaf, associated with notes of roasted bouquet garni, roasted red cherry and smoke. The palate is full-bodied and expresses power and gourmandise. We find the flavors of very ripe fresh fruit (black plum, blackberry, morello cherry), dried fruit (dried cherry, prunes, dried black fig), dark chocolate, chocolate prunes, coffee, as well as savoury notes of sweet spices (roasted vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, nutmeg), aromatic herbs (roasted bouquet garni, dried mint), a tertiary touch of undergrowth and dried flowers, as well as a hint of roasting in the background (coffee, toasted hazelnuts, smoke). The tannins are powerful and enveloping, but soft and fine. The finish is lingering and sapid – with gourmand notes of amarena cherry, prunes in chocolate and coffee. The acidity is pleasant and refreshing.
