Terra di Monteverro 2020 – Toscana

The wine has a medium intensity ruby color. The nose offers tension, concentration of freshness and a distinct and elegant mineral touch of limestone and salinity. The fruits are juicy and fresh, with a beautiful acidulous frame – we find aromas of wild blackberry, cassis, morello cherry, a tannic and slightly bitter touch of bird cherry, ripe red cherry, as well as crushed raspberry and juicy strawberry. After aeration, we find herbal and minty notes of peppermint, pine needles, a sappy hint of pine bark, bay leaf, ripe olive, as well as Mediterranean herbs, chervil and dill in the background. The toasted and spicy side is very delicate and refined – we feel the notes of toasted almond, the bitterness of cocoa and lightly roasted coffee, heated wood, as well as liquorice, a touch of green anise, cardamom and Timut pepper in the background. The palate is straight, precise, with a lot of freshness and accuracy. The attack is firm, tight, with a good bitterness of bird cherry and sapid, fine, but solid tannins (slightly dry on the attack). We then find the notes of morello cherry, sour red cherry, blackcurrant, cranberries, as well as sweet spices (liquorice, cardamom, Timut pepper), aromatic herbs with a methhol hint (wild mint, pine needles, as well as bay leaf, ripe olive). There are also notes of heated wood, toasted almond, a tangy hint of cocoa nibs and Mediterranean herbs. The finish is long, with refreshing notes of bay leaf, olive, fresh tea leaf and dried blackcurrant leaf, as well as a slightly dry limestone minerality that appears on the persistence (balanced by a hint of juicy morello cherry). Beautiful acidity that brings a lot of freshness. A structured and solid wine.
