Tenuta Perano, Rialzi (Frescobaldi) 2019 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a brilliant ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is textured and concentrated, with lots of fruit and freshness. It expresses aromas of tart, tannic black fruits (wild blackberry, Morello cherry, wild plum, a touch of rowan and crushed blueberry), sweet red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, roasted red cherry), associated with gourmand notes of mint-flavored dark chocolate, chocolate prunes, a savory spiciness side (licorice with a touch of star anise, ground cumin, a hint of toasted vanilla and cinnamon, grated nutmeg), as well as notes of fresh tobacco, balsamic cream, toasted hazelnut, cedar, caramelized toasted brioche (which adds a slight sweet touch in the background), as well as notes of wild rose and peony. Intense yet elegant on the palate, with a silky attack, beautiful fruity substance and a nicely structure of smooth, sapid tannins. It expresses notes of crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis and roasted red cherry, complemented by the tangy, gourmand side of ripe black fruit (Morello cherry, wild blackberry, mountain ash, crushed blueberry). On the mid-palate, we find savory notes of dark chocolate with mint, a toasty hint of coffee and toasted almond, sweet spices (toasted vanilla, roasted coriander seeds, ground nutmeg, star anise in the background), associated with a herbaceous touch of fresh basil, cedar and fresh tobacco, as well as a fine floral bouquet (wild rose, peony, violet). The finish is persistent and long, with lots of flavors and gourmandise, expressed by notes of black fruit, sweet spices and wild mint. Good acidity brings freshness and energy. A lively, chiselled, well-built wine that will develop further with time.
