Tenuta Perano, Rialzi (Frescobaldi) 2019 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a brilliant ruby color, of medium intensity. The nose is textured, concentrated, with lots of fruit and freshness. It expresses the aromas of tangy and tannic black fruits (wild blackberry, morello cherry, wild plum, a touch of crushed mountain ash and blueberry), sweet red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, roasted red cherry), associated with gourmet notes of dark chocolate with mint, chocolate prunes, a savoury spiciness (liquorice with a touch of star anise, ground cumin, a hint of grilled vanilla and cinnamon, grated nutmeg), as well as notes of fresh tobacco, balsamic cream, toasted hazelnut, cedar, caramelised toasted brioche (which adds a slight sweet touch in the background) as well as wild rose and peony. The palate is intense, but elegant, with a silky attack, a beautiful fruity substance and a beautiful structure of melted and sapid tannins. It expresses notes of crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, roasted red cherry, complemented by the tangy and delicious side of ripe black fruits (griotte, wild blackberry, mountain ash, crushed blueberry). In the mid-palate, we find tasty notes of dark chocolate with mint, a hint of coffee and toasted almond, sweet spices (roasted vanilla, roasted coriander seeds, ground nutmeg, star anise in the background), combined with a herbaceous touch of fresh basil, cedar and fresh tobacco, as well as a fine floral bouquet (wild rose, peony, violet). The finish is persistent and long, with lots of flavors and gourmandise, expressed by notes of black fruits, sweet spices and wild mint. Beautiful acidity brings freshness and energy. A lively, chiselled, well-constructed wine, which will further develop over time.
