Tenuta Il Falchetto Bricco Roche 2018 – Nizza

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose is gourmand, savoury, spicy and chocolatey. It expresses notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, liquorice, toasted vanilla, grated nutmeg, ground cumin and sweet pepper. The second nose offers a juicy and concentrated fruity material and expresses aromas of ripe morello cherry (even morello cherry jam and morello cherry with chocolate), blackberry, crushed raspberry, wild strawberry and redcurrant jelly, as well as touches of toasted hazelnut, toasted almond, a hint of caramel (even coconut). There is also a fragrant floral bouquet with sweet nuances of iris and peony and a tertiary hint of dried tobacco and undergrowth. The palate offers gourmand flavors, very fruity and sweet on the attack – we firstly sense distinct notes of chocolate morello cherry, red cherry jam and blueberry, which are then complemented by tart notes of red cherry, raspberry and a hint of blackberry. The mid-palate offers delicate herbal flavors (rosemary, a hint of mint), sweet spices (licorice, a touch of vanilla, nutmeg and sweet pepper), dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, as well as roasted (toasted hazelnut, coffee, bitter almond) and dried tobacco in the background. The finish is persistent, gourmand, slightly toasted and herbal (roasted aromatic herbs), with a beautiful salivating acidity. The tannins are tight, structured, slightly grippy on the mid-palate, but integrated.
