Tenuta di Sesta Duelecci Est 2018 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

The wine has a medium intensity ruby color with slight garnet reflections. The first nose is fragrant and first expresses the tertiary notes of undergrowth, wet leaves and wilted flowers (withered rose, wilted peony), which become more discreet after aeration. On the second nose, we find notes of fresh flowers (violet, lilac, rose), fresh sweet tobacco, wild mint, dried pine needles, basil, balsamic in the background, as well as sweet spices (liquorice with a touch of star anise, cardamom, cumin), torrefaction (a touch of toasted wood, toasted bitter almond and coffee). The fruits are juicy and concentrated: we find notes of roasted and dried bigarreau cherry, morello cherry, wild strawberry, blackcurrant, black plum, crushed blueberry and bird cherry, completed by a touch of morello cherry in chocolate in the background. The palate is voluminous, juicy and fruity on the attack, with a pleasant tertiary side in the mid-palate (dry tobacco, damp leaves, faded rose). It also expresses notes of fresh morello cherry, dried morello cherry, black plum, prunes, dried cranberries and bird cherry, associated with notes of dried peppermint, bay leaf, fresh tobacco, and notes of flowers (violet, lilac), sweet spices (liquorice, coriander seeds, juniper berries) and roasting (coffee, dark chocolate, toasted almond) and a delicate herbaceous touch (pine needles, candied black olive). The tannins are powerful and grippy, slightly bitter, cocoa and sapid. The acidity is salivating, lively and brings a beautiful juiciness and freshness to the wine. Good length on the tension and tannic structure.
