Tenuta di Saragano – 2007 – Sagrantino di Montefalco

The nose is nicely subtle, beautifully velvety, delicate, full of emotion, nicely deep and offers a certain fleshiness of the fruit, complexity, delicacy, harmony as well as a nice polished side in its power. It’s a beautiful and delicate caress to the nose. There are notes of ripe wild blueberry, ripe/pulpy blackcurrant and small notes of roasted-ripe wild wild strawberry (but full of control) associated with a touch of graphite, cubeb pepper, penja pepper as well as delicate hints of violet, almost jammy berries, a subtle hint of rosemary, delicate sage and a subtle hint of graphene/local dry soil. An imperceptible hint of truffle in the background. The palate is nicely velvety, delicate and bright (and subtle at the same time), full of precision / delicacy and offers a nicely polished/controlled power. On the palate this wine expresses notes of wild raspberry, polished red berries associated with touches of violet, graphite, pulpy/juicy violet plum, hints of pepper, blueberry as well as fine hints of salinity, tonka bean/cocoa, tobacco, cardamom, discreet hints of nutmeg, toasted almond and a subtle hint of pepper. The finish is nicely delicate, velvety and powerful (polished and harmonious). Tannins are sapid, racy, integrated and velvety. A discreet hint of black olive in the background and a very discreet hint of roasting on the aftertaste/persistence. Beautiful length. A very beautiful, racy, deep, gourmand and delicate persistence. A very nice work on the good bitterness of cocoa. Congratulations !
