Tenuta di Lilliano, Ruspoli 2019 – Chianti Classico Riserva

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is reserved at first, but opens after aeration. It expresses delicate aromas of evolution (undergrowth, cedar), associated with touches of dried rose and cornflower, a mineral hint (dry stone, limestone, even graphite), sweet spices (white pepper, cumin, a hint of liquorice), torrefaction (coffee), as well as fresh and dried fruits (fresh strawberries, dried cherries, dried blackcurrants, dried cranberries, raspberry coulis, morello cherries). On the palate, the wine is silky, enveloping and offers melted, powdery and sapid tannins (with a pleasant bitterness of cocoa), as well as a fresh, but supple acidity. The attack expresses notes of jammy fruits (red cherry jam, blackcurrant jam), dried fruits (dried cherry, dried cranberries, dried raspberry) and fresh fruits (crunchy strawberry, morello cherry, blackcurrant, cranberries), associated with a good bitterness of coffee and cocoa, with a fine spiciness (ground cumin, cloves, a touch of liquorice), notes of dried flowers (rose, violet), as well as tobacco, cedar, undergrowth and aromatic herbs dried. The finish is persistent and complex: it offers a lively acidity of red fruits, a savoury spiciness as well as a racy minerality on the finish.
