Taboadella 1255 Alfrocheiro Reserva 2021 – Dão

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose offers precision, accuracy and a tangy frame of fresh red and black fruits. It expresses notes of bigarreau cherry, red plum, cranberries, a hint of goji berries, raspberry and blueberry. The second nose offers a spicy, smoky aromas as well as a hint of torrefaction. We find notes of liquorice, nutmeg and white pepper, roasted meat in the background, a hint of wood (smoke, toasted almond, sweet coffee in the background), as well as a pronounced floral scent (rose, lilac, peony) and a herbaceous touch of fresh thyme and basil in the background. The palate is juicy, fruity and silky. It expresses notes of morello cherry, roasted red cherry, crunchy sweet strawberry, goji berries in the background, blackcurrant, blueberry and red plum. We then find floral notes (fresh rose, lilac, peony), a touch of roasted meat and smoke, as well as aromatic herbs (roasted thyme, rosemary) and a mineral hint of granite. The tannins are structured, but silky, with a velvety texture. The finish is tangy and fresh, quite persistent.
