The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is deep, fleshy, and fruity, underlined by a delicate, yet precise and distinct spiciness. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, crushed red cherry (even red cherry jam), roasted raspberry, and crushed wild strawberry. Then there are notes of licorice, toasted vanilla, and cinnamon in the background, cardamom, a hint of pepper, as well as a sweet floral and herbaceous touch (peony, iris, lilac, wild mint) and a mineral framework (limestone, dry earth). There are also notes of tobacco, toasted hazelnut, and a powdery touch of cocoa. The palate is finely tight, flavorful, and fresh. It expresses notes of wild strawberry, dried cherry, crushed raspberry, cranberries, as well as spices (nutmeg, liquorice, white pepper), a mineral (limestone, dry earth), herbaceous (dry black tea, wild mint) and floral (lilac, violet, dried rose) structure. Tannins are tight and powdery, but quite fine, envelopped in a salivating acidity. The finish expresses notes of cocoa, dried cherry and fresh red fruits, completed by a persistent mineral structure.
