Simone Scaletta Bricco San Pietro 2016 – Barolo Riserva

Simone Scaletta Bricco San Pietro 2016 – Barolo Riserva

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is savoury and fragrant. It expresses subtle and enveloped tertiary notes, as well as gourmet notes of sweet spices. We find in particular the aromas of dry tobacco, undergrowth, dry fallen leaves, dried red fruits (dried red cherry, dried strawberry, dried blackcurrant), sweet spices (dried vanilla, cloves, licorice, pepper white, crushed pink pepper berries), aromatic herbs (dried bay leaf, dried thyme, dried peppermint), as well as a touch of dried flowers (rose, cornflower), a resinous touch (dry pine needles, even tar) and toasted almond. We also find notes of fresh fruit (red cherry, strawberry, fresh cranberries, tangy raspberry, bergamot with its smoky and bitter hint), which bring youth to the wine. On the palate, the wine is juicy and enveloping, with a firm tannin structure and a certain astringency in the mid-palate, balanced by a salivating acidity. It expresses the flavors of wild strawberry, roasted red cherry, dried raspberry, fresh cranberries, dried red cherry, dried blackcurrant, as well as savoury notes of sweet spices (dried vanilla, licorice, cloves, white pepper), a fine hint of torrefaction (cocoa, coffee, bitter almond), herbaceous and floral touches (dried bay leaf, dried thyme, dried rosemary, dried rose, dried cornflower), as well as delicate tertiary and mineral notes in the finish. mouth (tobacco, dry leaves, undergrowth, tar in the background). Good persistence, sapid, slightly spicy and savoury, but a bit drying.
