Sciavenza Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba 2021 – Barolo

Sciavenza Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is perfumed and offers tension and concentration in its aromas. It expresses notes of roasted red cherry, juicy morello cherry, crushed strawberry and raspberry coulis, associated with spicy, slightly minty touches (liquorice, crushed cardamom, a hint of nutmeg), a limestone minerality, as well as wild mint (even mint syrup) and sweet floral aromas (peony, iris). There are also touches of toasted almond, cocoa and a hint of fresh wood (even with a touch of sappy). The palate is juicy, tangy and straight. The attack is fruity and chiseled, with flavors of red cherry, cranberries, crunchy strawberry and fresh raspberry. Spices (liquorice, nutmeg), a fine menthol side (dried mint in the background), as well as a good bitterness of fresh cherry and citrus fruits (grapefruit) appear in the mid-palate, complemented by a hint of rose petals in the background. The finish is sapid, toasted (toasted hazelnut, heated wood in the background), slightly cocoa-flavored and quite persistent, with a fresh hint of blackcurrant leaf that appears at the very end of the palate. Tannins are powdery, very fine, but quite firm, even grippy, balanced by a salivating acidity. Beautiful solid structure, the freshness of the fruits and a lively acidity give this wine good aging potential.
