Sara Vezza, Josetta Saffirio – Castelletto 2020 – Barolo Persiera

The nose offers power, intensity, a fine concentration, a subtle hint of noble austerity as well as a lovely powerful and stretched grain. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, small ripe wild fruits and small notes of delicate spices associated with touches of graphite, smoke as well as fine hints of strawberry, cornflowers and a very discreet hint of nutmeg. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers juiciness, suavity, minerality, a good definition, a certain gourmandise, brightness/brilliance of the fruit, velvety as well as a tangy structure. All in control/precision. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fresh/ripe blackberry, ripe wild strawberry and small notes of wild red berries associated with touches of clove, nutmeg as well as a discreet hint of tonka bean (in the background) and crushed almond (in the background). Tannins are finely mellow. A beautiful small chew on the finish/persistence.
