Ruffino, Riserva Ducale Oro 2019 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with light garnet reflections. The nose is textured, complex and concentrated, with a pronounced spicy and chocolate notes. The first nose expresses aromas of dark chocolate, licorice, cloves, a touch of cinnamon and dried vanilla, as well as a hint of ground black pepper and juniper berries. Then, we find the herbaceous notes of dried rosemary, bay leaf, as well as a touch of black tapenade, associated with a ripe and concentrated fruitiness: the aromas of morello cherry, red cherry, dried blackcurrant, blueberry, strawberry. of wood and a fine touch of menthol and fresh tobacco. On the palate, the wine is firm, chiselled and straight, but gourmand. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, dried red cherry, dried cranberries, blackcurrant and blackberry, combined with notes of dried thyme, rosemary, sweet spices (clove, a touch of cinnamon, cumin), dried rose, dark chocolate and dried mint. The tannins are powerful and firm, balanced by the concentration on the palate and salivating acidity. A powerful and firm wine, which should further evolve in the bottle.
