Round Pond Estate – Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Rutherford – Napa Valley

The nose is aromatic, powerful, racy and offers finesse as well as a small concentration (but full of finesse). It reveals notes of cassis, wild blackberry and wild strawberries combined with small hints of coffee, small wild berries, Sichuan / gray pepper, cocoa as well as a subtle hint of coffee and very discreet hints of violet. The mouth is fruity, juicy, well-balanced and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful juiciness, finesse as well as a beautiful acid frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of cassis, blueberry, plum and small notes of wild strawberries, wild raspberries associated with small touches of licorice, tobacco, sweet spices, caramelization, cocoa as well as discreet hints of olive and coffee. Tannins are fine and elegant. Good length. Beautiful gourmandize. The finish is slightly powerful. There are discreet hints of menthol and a very discreet hint of crushed hazelnut on the persistence.
