Rémy Nodin, Le Mazel 2022 – Crozes-Hermitage

(organic, 100% Syrah) The wine has a medium-intensity ruby color with purple highlights. The nose is subtly peppery, reserved at first, but opens up after aeration into a juicy and concentrated fruity bouquet. It expresses notes of crushed blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum, morello cherry and strawberry in the background, combined with a touch of violet and the freshness of peppermint and blackcurrant leaf in the background, as well as a delicate hint of liquorice and sap. The palate is juicy, fruity and bright, accessible and light (in a good way). The attack offers notes of tart red cherry, crushed blackcurrant, crushed black plum, morello cherry and blackberry in the background. The mid-palate completes the bouquet with notes of violet, licorice, dried mint and dried pine needles. The finish is rather persistent, slightly bitter and herbaceous (blackcurrant leaf in the background). Beautiful salivating acidity and polished tannins. An accessible, pleasant wine, with freshness.
