Reggine 2017 – Chianti Classico Riserva

Reggine 2017 – Chianti Classico Riserva

The wine has a deep ruby color with light garnet reflections. The nose is gourmand and concentrated, even a bit sweet, but fresh at the same time. It expresses notes of crushed strawberries, dried strawberries, morello cherries, red cherry jam, blackcurrant and wild blackberries, combined with spiciness (liquorice, cloves, nutmeg, a hint of cinnamon), a hint of smoke (almost bergamot), bitter cocoa, mint chocolate, as well as dried rose and cornflower, dried mint, tobacco and black tea. The palate is juicy and gourmand, it offers a balance between fruity, woody flavors and delicate tertiary notes. We find flavors of dried red cherry, morello cherry, dried strawberry, crushed wild strawberry, cranberries, a fine bitterness of black tea and bergamot, as well as notes of clove, nutmeg, liquorice, toasted background, ground coffee, undergrowth (very lightly) and tobacco. The tannin structure is firm, a bit dry, balanced by a nice acidity. The finish is fruity and persistent. A wine with concentration, freshness and good aging potential.
