Ramos Pinto 2020 – Vintage Porto

Ramos Pinto 2020 – Vintage Porto

(Bottled: 2002) The wine needs to be decanted. The nose is elegant, precise, frank, nicely racy and offers a beautiful infusion side. It reveals notes of Madagascar pepper, crushed black berries and small notes of black tea associated with touches of jammy blueberry, hints of kirsch small red fruits as well as fine hints of lilac, cornflower, liquorice stick, discreet hints of camphor, sense of place (olive tree, dry grove) and chocolate. The palate is beautifully built, supple, mineral and offers an acidulous frame as well as verticality in its tannic structure, straightness and a very discreetly tight side. On the palate this Porto wine expresses notes of quite ripe violet plum, fig and small notes of date associated with touches of quite ripe blackcurrant as well as a discreet hint almost of Zante currant and a subtle almost orangette hint. Tannins are racy, well-built and elegant. A subtle hint of cocoa in the background.
