Quinta Dona Mafalda – Alicante Bouschet 2017 – Douro

The nose is fresh, powerful and offers minerality. It reveals notes of Bigarreau cherry, ripe strawberry and small notes of wild blackberry associated with touches of wild fruits, wild raspberry as well as small / discreet touches of eucalyptus, flowers (violet, lily) as well as very discreet hints of white pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, precise and offers a beautiful juiciness, a beautiful minerality, a beautiful freshness, straightness, finesse, a mineral / acidulous frame, a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as a good guideline. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe / juicy red berries, Bigarreau cherry and small notes of cassis associated with small / fine touches of blackberry, crunchy raspberry as well as hints of flowers and very discreet hints of chocolate / vanilla (in the background). Tannins are fine, straight, elegant, precise and structuring. There is a very discreet chew on the finish.
