Poggio Santo 2021 – Chianti Classico

The wine has a pale ruby color, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is reserved and requires airation. It then expresses notes of morello cherry, red cherry jam, crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, tangy bigarreau cherry, associated with floral notes of violet, peony and a gourmand touch of prunes in chocolate in the background, refreshed by touches of wild mint and basil. On the palate, the wine is airy and offers gourmandise, fruitiness, and lightness. It expresses the flavors of morello cherry, strawberry, crushed raspberry, bigarreau cherry, cherry jam, combined with notes of peony, rose, black plum and wild mint in the background. The tannins are fine, a bit grippy, but enveloped and not astringent. The finish is rather persistent, with a nice salivating acidity and a touch of fresh tobacco, liquorice and toasted hazelnut in the background. An airy and accessible wine.
