Poggio Santa Maria MM78 2023 – Trasimeno DOC Bianco Scelto

(Chardonnay aged in barrels) The nose is complex, dense and savoury. It expresses notes of candied lemon, fresh lemon, fresh pineapple, yellow peach, apricot, yellow apple, as well as a touch of apple blossom and acacia. We also find gourmand spiciness and toastiness, expressed in notes of vanilla, brioche and toasted hazelnut. The mouth is tense, stretched and enveloping. It expresses notes of yellow apple, candied lemon, yellow peach, pineapple, as well as candied lemon, fresh brioche and vanilla. The finish is refreshing and chiselled, with lively acidity, good bitterness of bitter almond and grapefruit and a touch of wax and hay in the background. Persistence and complexity on the finish.
