Poderi Luigi Einaudi, Ludo 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is expressive and very floral: it opens with distinct notes of fresh rose, faded rose, faded peony and a hint of cornflower in the background. Aeration brings out the aromas of ripe fruit (morello cherry, wild strawberry, blackberry, crushed raspberry), as well as a sappy and minty side (pine sap, pine needle, a hint of eucalyptus and wild mint), as well as a hint of toasted hazelnut, vanilla and dark chocolate. The palate is juicy, fresh, with a gourmand and fruity attack (morello cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, a touch of cassis) and a good bitterness of fresh cherry. Then, we feel notes of licorice, pine needles, a hint of sap, toasted hazelnut and liquorice, as well as floral notes (faded rose, rose petals), which return on the persistence. Tannins are powdery, chocolatey and gourmet, but grippy on the finish. Good length, with pleasant herbaceous notes (peppermint, pine needles) and a salivating acidity. A lovely elegant and structured wine.
