The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is delicately perfumed, and expresses notes of dried flowers (rose, dried cornflower, peony), sweet spices (nutmeg, white pepper, licorice), a touch of dried mint, hay, tobacco, toasted hazelnut and cocoa. We also find ripe fruits (red cherry, raspberry, crushed strawberry, redcurrant, a hint of cranberries) and a delicate minerality (notes of dry stone, even a little earthy). The palate is tight, but balanced by a juicy and textured fruity substance. It expresses notes of strawberry, morello cherry, dried red cherry, redcurrant jelly, cranberries and a touch of blueberry, combined with notes of dried rose, peony, cornflower, as well as a savoury spiciness (nutmeg, liquorice, white pepper) and a hint of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, cocoa). The tannins are a bit grippy, but soft and well-constructed. The finish is persistent, gourmand (with notes of amarena cherry) and fresh. Material, beautiful complexity and concentration.
