Poderi Colla, Tenuta Roncaglia, Barbaresco Roncaglie 2021 – Barbaresco

The wine has a pale ruby color. On the first nose, we find notes of dried herbs (mint, a touch of hay and basil, a smoky touch of oregano), which are then completed by a fine floral bouquet (dried rose, lily, violet, peony) and a touch of rose leaf and pine needles. After aeration, we find delicate spicy (liquorice, ground cumin, nutmeg) and fruity (red cherry, a pronounced and gourmand touch of wild strawberry and crushed raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant) notes, as well as a sweet touch of mint chocolate in the background. The palate is tight and expresses power and firm tannins. The attack is drying, but balanced by a salivating acidity and juicy fruit flavors (bigarreau cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry, crushed blueberry, a slightly bitter touch of cranberries and bergamot). We also find floral notes of rose, lily and peony, a fine spiciness (liquorice, white pepper), herbaceous hints (dried mint, dried pine needles), as well as a touch of coffee and toasted almond in the background. The finish expresses the astringency of tannins, good bitterness and salivating acidity.
