Palladino, Barolo Ornato 2020 – Barolo

Palladino, Barolo Ornato 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose expresses juiciness, concentration of fruits, as well as subtle herbaceous and floral hints (bay leaf, infused tea leaf, dried thyme, dried peppermint, dried rose, lily), associated with integrated spiciness (nutmeg, liquorice stick, white pepper, clove), enveloped in notes of morello cherry, fresh strawberry, dried raspberry, cranberries, and crushed blueberry (in the background). We also find a touch of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, coffee). On the palate, the wine is ample and enveloping, while remaining straight and firm. The tannins are velvety and soft, but well structured, slightly gripping, without being dry. The flavors are complex and expressive: the attack offers smokiness, which is completed by gourmand notes of ripe fruit (wild strawberry, morello cherry, a touch of red cherry jam, crushed raspberry, blueberry, a good bitterness of cranberries and a touch of bergamot), with a fine spiciness (liquorice, vanilla, cloves, black pepper), herbaceous (dried thyme, bay berries, dried mint), floral notes (dried rose) and a hint of chocolate. We also feel a mineral touch of graphite. The finish is persistent, gourmand and chocolatey, balanced by a nice acidity and a good bitterness.
