Odisseia, Scylla, MMXXI Grande Reserva 2021 – Douro

The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose offers concentration, juiciness and fresh fruity substance. It expresses notes of wild blackberry, morello cherry, fresh strawberry, raspberry coulis and crushed blueberry, combined with touches of fresh flowers (wild rose, cornflower), refreshing herbaceous aromas (mint, even menthol, berries). crushed bay leaf), with a gourmand spiciness (fresh vanilla, liquorice, a touch of cinnamon and star anise) and a hint of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, cocoa). The palate is generous and round, but full of elegance and freshness, with soft and fine tannins. It expresses notes of wild blackberry, black plum, wild strawberry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry, as well as cranberry jam with a slight bitterness, associated with gourmet flavors of cherry and prunes in chocolate (a very light touch which brings sweetness), sweet spices (roasted vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, liquorice), cocoa, coffee and toasted wood, highlighted by subtle touches of fresh flowers (wild rose, peony, cornflower) and aromatic herbs (bouquet garni, crushed laurel berries, dried mint). The finish is lingering and sapid: there is a slight sweetness of dark chocolate, coffee (sweet, even coffee with milk) and amarena cherry, balanced by a nice acidity and a pleasant bitterness.
