Nadia Curto, la Foia Riserva 2017 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color with slight garnet reflections. The nose is reserved, but opens after aeration. It expresses fragrant floral notes (fresh rose, dried rose, lily), combined with aromas of sweet spices (nutmeg, liquorice, a touch of cardamom), fresh tobacco, bay leaf, cedar, as well as with tertiary touches of infused black tea and undergrowth, enveloped in fresh fruits (tart wild blackberry, bigarreau cherry, raspberry, cranberries), with a very light touch of prunes and chocolate with dried mint in the background. On the palate, the wine offers suppleness, as well as a firm tannin structure, drying on the finish. It expresses the flavors of fresh bigarreau cherry, dried cherry, raspberry, cranberries (with a good bitterness) and crushed blueberry, associated with a fine spiciness (liquorice, white pepper, nutmeg), light tertiary notes (undergrowth, black tea), as well as floral (dried rose, lily) and herbaceous (dried mint, tobacco) touches. The finish is quite persistent and expresses tight tannins, salivating acidity, as well as good bitterness.
