Montemelino Vinea Alta 2020 – Trasimeno Rosso DOC

The nose is fragrant, but delicate and subtle. It firstly expresses a smoky touch and pronounced aromas of Mediterranean herbs (fresh thyme and rosemary, roasted thyme and rosemary, bay leaf), as well as scents of violet and rose. We also find gourmet notes of strawberry, blueberry, red cherry, blackcurrant, a herbaceous hint of blackcurrant leaf, notes of sweet spices (liquorice, cumin, cloves, pepper in the background), dark chocolate and torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, toasted wood, even vanilla and caramel in the background). Notes of dried mint and menthol bring a fresh touch to the nose. The palate is straight, complex and fresh. It expresses notes of dried blackcurrant, crushed blueberry, morello cherry and strawberry, black plum, associated with notes of liquorice, white pepper, a herbaceous hint of dried mint, rosemary, thyme and sweet tobacco, as well as touches of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, toasted and smoke. Beautiful, well-controlled tannin structure, closed with a fine texture. Good persistence, accuracy, complexity and mastery.
