(blend of Sangiovese and local grape varieties, aged for a year in barrels) The nose is fragrant, floral and spicy on the openning: it expresses in particular aromas of black pepper, liquorice, cumin and dried rose, associated with a hint of smoke and herbs (tomato, fresh bay leaf, roasted Mediterranean herbs, a delicate bitterness of tea). We also find the gourmandise of toasted hazelnut, chocolate and cocoa, enveloped in notes of black plum, blackcurrant, dried cranberries, dried raspberry, morello cherry and red cherry. On the palate, the wine is structured and balanced. It expresses the flavors of red cherry, morello cherry, cranberries and black plum, combined with herbaceous notes of fresh bay leaf, thyme and rosemary, a savoury spiciness (nutmeg, liquorice), as well as a touch dried rose. We also find a saline mineral framework and a hint of tar. Pleasant salivating acidity on the finish, the tannins are fine, but slightly grippy. A vibrant, powerful and balanced wine.
