Monchiero Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2021 – Barolo

Monchiero Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The aroma is expressive, floral, with a fresh minty hint. We first smell the scents of peony, fresh rose, as well as pine bark and fresh pine needles, which bring a sappy hint to the bouquet of aromas. The fruits on the nose are gourmet and slightly sweet (wild strawberry, morello cherry, crushed ripe raspberry, redcurrant jelly), associated with savoury touches of toasted hazelnut, fresh almond, liquorice, nutmeg in the background, as well as blond coffee and fresh tobacco in the background. The palate is sapid, with a fruity and tangy attack, on the flavors of red cherry, cranberries, tangy strawberry and crushed raspberry, as well as a tannic and slightly bitter touch of fresh cherry. The mid-palate adds notes of black plum to the fruity material, as well as spicy (liquorice, a hint of white pepper), toasted (toasted hazelnut, toasted almond) and herbaceous (fresh mint, a touch of rose leaf) notes. Tannins are slightly bitter and grippy on the finish, even dry. The finish is persistent and sapid, with fruity bitterness and a hint of chocolate. Beautiful salivating acidity, which reinforces the structure of the wine.
