The wine has a pale ruby color with garnet highlights. The initial nose offers distinct tertiary notes (wet leaves, mushrooms, even a very slight hint of truffle, cigar box, faded rose), associated with macerated fruits (macerated cherry, prunes in the background), crushed raspberry and wild strawberry. After aeration, we find notes of crushed wild mint, faded peony and violet, associated with sweet spices (nutmeg, cumin), a touch of graphite, as well as cocoa nibs. The palate is silky and sapid, with tertiary notes on the attack (wet leaves, a touch of mushrooms and cigar box). The mid-palate is tighter and more tangy: it expresses notes of cranberries, sour red cherry, dried morello cherry and raspberry, associated with a delicate spiciness (liquorice, nutmeg) and floral (dried rose, violet). The finish is savory and slightly minty – with notes of wild mint and fresh pine needles, combined with a tangy bitterness of grapefruit and coffee. The tannins are fine, but quite solid.
