Marston Vineyard – Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 – Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, aromatic, elegant, racy and offers freshness, complexity and density. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis and fine notes of ripe red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) associated with fine touches of undergrowth / mushroom, forest floor, Tarweed as well as discreet hints of dried tobacco, slightly minty liquorice, oak, spices and a very discreet / imperceptible touch of gray pepper (in the background). The palate is nicely fruity, well-balanced, nicely fresh and offers a fine tension, a nice elegance, a nice grain, a nice harmony, delicacy, a melodious aspect as well as a beautiful, dense, silky and fine matter. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed cassis, juicy blueberry, raspberry and wild strawberry combined with fine touches of licorice, chocolate, toasted oak, tobacco as well as a subtle touch of fresh Tarweed (in the background) and a discreet / imperceptible hint of mushroom. Tannins are fine, elegant, slightly tight and offer a nice grain. Beautiful persistence.
