The nose is spicy, racy and reveals good definition. There are notes of boysenberry, red berries and, more slightly, exotic spices combined with fine touches of Madagascar pepper, zan, and discreet hints of nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is fruity and offers minerality, freshness, tension, a mineral backbone, energy, and a fine airiness in the approach. On the palate this wine expresses juicy/fresh blackberry, fresh/crisp blackcurrant and more lightly peony notes combined with hints of fresh wild red berries as well as fine varietal, spice and a subtle hint of zan. The tannins are supple. A subtle hint of clove on the finish.
