Marcarini Barolo del Comune de la Morra 2021 – Barolo

Marcarini Barolo del Comune de la Morra 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is gourmand and concentrated – it expresses juicy and ripe fruit (the aromas of morello cherry, red cherry, roasted raspberry and crushed strawberry), combined with savory herbaceous notes (liquorice, nutmeg, clove), as well as a touch of refreshing peppermint and pine sap. There is also a hint of bitter almond, toasted hazelnut skin, toasted wood and smoke. The palate opens with a bitterness of coffee and fresh cherry, then combined with a bitter hint of grapefruit and cocoa. There is also the tart fruits (cranberries, red cherry, raspberry, crunchy strawberry), a touch of fresh wood completed by sap and pine needles, as well as a mineral note of tar. Tannins are firm, grippy and a little grainy (still need to melt with time). The finish is tight, with good expressive bitterness and salivating acidity. Good length and concentration, gourmandise and good structure. A well-constructed but closed wine.
