Marcarini Barolo Brunate 2020 – Barolo

Marcarini Barolo Brunate 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color with very light garnet reflections. The nose offers concentration, a certain density and complexity. It expresses notes of dried red cherry, fresh red cherry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry and candied cranberries, combined with savoury spices (liquorice, crushed cardamom, white pepper), a touch of toasted wood (e, base), toasted hazelnut, coffee, as well as a tangy hint of citrus (grapefruit zest). After aeration, we also find a herbaceous (wild mint, pine needles) and floral (fresh peony, rose petals) hint. The palate is gourmet, with a fruity, juicy and enveloping attack. It expresses notes of morello cherry, dried red cherry, a bitter touch of cranberries, as well as spicy notes (white pepper, liquorice), roasting (toasted almond, toasted hazelnut, coffee, a slight smokiness). Tannins are fine, enveloping, but solid, balanced by a salivating acidity. The finish is persistent, concentrated, with toasted flavors, dried red fruits and a good bitterness of cocoa, as well as a hint of dried rose at the end of the mouth. A balanced and structured wine, with a nice concentration and good aging potential.
