Maison Foucher Sancerre, Les Monts Damnés 2022 – Sancerre

The wine has a pale lemon yellow color. The nose is reserved, but fresh and tangy. The first nose expresses a distinguished minerality (limestone, gunflint), associated with notes of citrus (lemon, lime, grapefruit zest), green apple and white peach, as well as fleshiness of ripe apricot and yellow peach, which appear after aeration. We also find a lactic touch of butter and yeast, of brioche in the background, accompanied by the floral scents of acacia and linden. The palate is vertical, chiseled, with sharp acidity and good bitterness of grapefruit and lime zest. We also find a mineral touch of limestone in the background, the enveloping juiciness of white peach and apricot, as well as notes of acacia and fresh linden (or even linden honey in the background). The finish is quite persistent, salivating and tangy, with notes of yellow lemon and green apple. A straight, concentrated and precise wine, with a sharp freshness and a racy minerality.
