Maison Fontan – Ugni Blanc 1996 – Bas-Armagnac

Maison Fontan – Ugni Blanc 1996 – Bas-Armagnac

(52.5%, Natural strength, Single Cask) The nose is racy, spicy, frank and offers a stretched side / a nice stretched grain. There are notes of nutmeg, orange blossom and orangette associated with small touches of dried citrus fruits, blond grapes as well as fine hints of rancio, tobacco, smoke and a hint of citron. The palate is fruity, elegant, racy, nicely precise, intense and offers a certain straightness in elegance/control as well as a frank and racy grain. On the palate this Armagnac expresses notes of candied quince, orangette and small notes of dried zest associated with touches of marmalade, nutmeg, tobacco, pulpy peach as well as hints of rancio, smoke and a imperceptible almost cereal hint (in the background). Good persistence. A style / structure which suggests that this Armagnac is made to seduce whiskey lovers.
