M. Chapoutier – Quatuor 2015 – Côte-Rôtie

The nose is fruity, mineral, elegant, racy and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful fineness of the grain as well as a beautiful balance between power, finesse and richness. It reveals notes of elderberries, ripe/cooked cassis, ripe redcurrants and small notes of fleshy raspberry combined with small touches of licorice, rosemary, thyme, oleander flowers as well as slight hints of gray pepper. The palate is fruity, juicy, racy, elegant and offers a beautiful finesse, a beautiful delicacy, a racy minerality, dynamism, a good structure, a fine suavity, roundness as well as a small tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of cooked cassis, ripe / juicy redcurrant and small notes of blueberry, wild strawberry associated with small touches of cherry as well as hints of oleander flowers / rose, racy minerality, dark chocolate, caramelized oak, almond as well as discreet hints of garrigue (in the background) and an imperceptible touch of gray pepper. Tannins are fine, structuring and (very) slightly tight. Small chews on the persistence. There is a very discreet hint of hazelnut on the persistence (brings gourmandise). A beautiful wine !
