Lodali, Loreus, Giacone 2021 – Barbaresco

Lodali, Loreus, Giacone 2021 – Barbaresco

The wine has a pale ruby color. It is intense, aromatic and spicy on the nose. The first nose expresses notes of liquorice, toasted vanilla, clove and ground cumin, associated with touches of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, sweet coffee, heated wood). On the second nose, we find a ripe fruitiness (wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, red cherry, a touch of wild blueberry and blackcurrant), as well as light herbaceous and floral touches (dried bay leaf, wild mint, even menthol, wild rose, violet, a hint of peony in the background), as well as a delicate minerality in the background. On the palate, the wine offers good concentration (even some sweetness in its flavors), but freshness, thanks to lively acidity and good bitterness. The tannins have firmness, a tight but fine grain. It expresses the flavors of wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, morello cherry, candied red cherry, as well as a touch of wild blueberry and candied blackcurrant, combined with notes of sweet spices (liquorice, a hint of vanilla and cinnamon in the background), of flowers (wild rose, a sweet touch of fresh peony) and herbs (wild mint, rosemary, a hint of menthol), as well as the gourmandise of chocolate with mint. The finish is persistent, sapid, fruity, slightly chocolatey and expresses the tightness of tannins, as well as a good bitterness.
