Lima & Smith, Tecedeiras Douro Reserva 2020 – Douro

The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose offers density, generosity and beautiful concentration, fruity aromas (with finesse), as well as a warm and gourmand hint of chocolate, with savoury notes of sweet spics. It expresses the aromas of ripe morello cherry, wild blackberry, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry jam, dried red cherry, liquorice, grilled vanilla, gray pepper, grated nutmeg, ground cumin, as well as only dried mint, fresh peony, wild rose, violet, dry pine needles, dry bay leaf, balsamic and a mineral touch (graphite), combined with a fine hint of torrefaction (coffee with a slight bitterness, toasted wood in the background). The palate offers a lot of freshness on the attack and gourmand chocolaty note on the finish. It first expresses notes of juicy morello cherry, crushed fresh wood, strawberry jam, morello cherry jam, wild blackberry, crème de cassis (in the background) and crushed blueberry; associated with notes of menthol, mint chocolate in the background, rosemary, fresh bay leaf, peony, as well as a fine spicy side (roasted vanilla, licorice, gray pepper, nutmeg). On the finish, we find notes of chocolate prunes, amarena cherry, coffee and cocoa. The tannins are firm, a little grippy, but fine, sapid and not drying. Beautiful salivating and fresh acidity which balances the robust profile of the wine. An expressive and fleshy wine.
