Le Marquis de Calon Ségur 2017 – Saint-Estèphe

The nose is fresh, fruity, racy, gourmand and offers a fine richness as well as density. It reveals notes of blackberry and cassis associated with fine notes of red berries, black cherry, wild strawberry as well as fine touches of gray pepper, flowers, graphite, spices and very discreet hints of toasted. The palate is fruity, fresh, juicy, well-balanced, precise, racy and offers a beautiful definition, a fine fleshiness, gourmandize, suavity, finesse, a beautiful acid frame, fleshiness as well as vivacity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, fleshy raspberry and more slightly fleshy/ripe red berries associated with fine touches of black cherry, discreet touches of flowers as well as hints of dark chocolate, caramelized oak and a very discreet hint of almond. Tannins are fine and well-built. Good length. The finish is slightly tight. Beautiful aromatic and acidulous persistence.
