Le Clarence de Haut-Brion 2017 – Pessac-Leognan

The nose is fine, elegant and offers a fine concentration as well as a small power. It reveals notes of cassis, red berries and small notes of black cherry, liquorice, graves (Gravels) (terroir)/ saline minerality associated with subtle/discreet hints of violet, a very discreet hint of lily as well as subtle touches of sweet spices, vanilla, toasted and almond toasted. The palate is fresh, mineral, fruity, well-balanced, elegant, very discreetly tight and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful suavity, fat, fullness, crunchiness, gourmandize, a very beautiful finesse of the grain as well as complexity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of cassis, red berries, cherry/black cherry and small touches of fresh raspberry, racy minerality/gravels (Graves) associated with fine touches of liquorice, toasted oak as well as subtle hints of flowers (violet, lily…), discreet hints of almond (in the background) and subtle/imperceptible hint of chocolate (in the background). Tannins are supple and elegant. Good length and persistence. On the aftertaste there is a discreet hint of toasted bread and a very discreet/imperceptible hint of cardamom.
