Laffitte Carcasset, Vignes de la Terrasse 3, 2022 – Saint-Estèphe

The nose is powerful and fine, racy and « frank », with controlled intensity, depth and spice. We find notes of cassis, morello cherry and more lightly, cubeb pepper, associated with a touch of black pepper, as well as hints of wild strawberry, small, quite ripe red fruits and discreet touches of warm gravel, tobacco and a subtle hint of nutmeg. The palate is beautifully silky, delicate and supple, with purity, brilliance and control. We find notes of pulpy, brilliant cassis, strawberry and cornflower associated with touches of small fleshy blue fruits, crushed raspberry as well as hints of licorice stick, vanilla and pepper. The wine is well-built and gourmand with a subtle hint of sappy, almost pine-needle in the background. Tannins are precise, mellow, racy and quite fine. A candy ! A lovely wine.
