La Source du Ruault, Clos de la Côte 2017 – Saumur – Champigny

The wine has a brilliant ruby color. The nose is deep, concentrated and complex. It expresses notes of roasted bigarreau cherry, fresh morello cherry, wild blueberry, wild plum, wild strawberry, as well as crushed blackcurrant. The woody notes are melted and delicate: we find touches of sweet coffee, toasted notes, a light aroma of caramel (or coconut, which appears on the second nose) and dark chocolate, as well as spicy notes (licorice, white pepper, cloves), floral bouquet(dried cornflower, lily)and a herbaceous touch of dried tomato leaf, which adds freshness to the wine. The palate expresses a concentrated and ripe fruity bouquet, as well as a firm, but fine tannin structure, associated with abeautiful acidity anda pleasant bitterness. The flavors are precise and gourmand: we find notes of morello cherry, roasted red cherry, wild blueberry, wild plum, elderberry and cranberries, combined with tasty notes of sweet spices (licorice, white pepper, cloves, ground nutmeg, a touch of cinnamon), aromatic herbs and dried flowers (thyme, tomato leaf, dried cornflower). The finish is persistent and refined: it continues with notes of bird cherry, morello cherry, juniper berries, bay leaf and a touch of limestone in the background. Nice acidity. A harmonious wine, with good aging potential
