A special 100% Corvina, one of Italy’s jewels, still produced by the Allegrini family in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, Verona area. Ambassadors of a brilliant intuition of Giovanni Allegrini’s, the three brothers Francesco, Giovanni and Matteo Allegrini fervently carry on a project perfected in 1979, based on the planting of 3 hectares of Corvina, at 380 metres above sea level, on calcareous and white soil. A courageous choice, at the time did not exist the Corvina Veronese Igt denomination, the red wine was released as a table wine. But the intent was clear from its outset: produce a wine that would be able to defy the time. And so it was, La Poja has become an icon, a rich and concentrated wine, which over time relaxes, embraced by a fine tannic weave that is well integrated with the material, which, net of the vintage, returns scents of undergrowth, fern, mina, mushrooms, but above all blueberries, cherries and floral hints. On the ripe red fruit, currants and cherries and balsamic hints, an energetic 2017, with a tannic edge to live up to, which presses the drink and envelops the palate. Wine with a great persistence and textural deep lunge.
